Caroline Leander is a pianist, singer, composer and lyricist living in Malmo, Sweden.
The piano is her oldest friend who has accompanied her performances since the 80’s where ever you can imagine;  from festivals around Europe to a tiny cheese shop in north west Scania.

Colour, form and improvisation are the cornerstones when she creates her music, both in her solo projects and in collaboration with other musicians. Her lyrics and melodies seem carved as one piece, built around her voice and piano.

Caroline performs as a solo artist, in duo and trio constellations, and with larger groups as well, with repertoire in English, French and Swedish.

She also writes music for theatre, dance and radio plays.

and wonderful Scanian nymphs with pockets filled with jazz.

2020:

Arranger, conductor and musician+actress in Evigt Ung at Helsingborgs Stadsteater.

Concerts with the duo Ett Halvfranskt Band, final recordings of the album with Harald Leander.

Church concerts with the group Trenne with Petra Kvist and Staffan Wester. Studiorecordings with Pontus Stenkvist & Maria Stille.

Concert in Næstveds Kulturhus (DK) with Leander & Smith. The duo is writing new material for upcoming releases

 

2019:

Writing new material with Peter Smith (DK) in the duo Leander & Smith, making concerts, recordings and releasing the full length album “Du eller Aldrig”.

Nordic Songwriters week in Bornholm (DK) organized by DPA.

Tour with the group Trenne with Petra Kvist and Staffan Wester, different venues and churches in Scania, release of the full length album “Vänta på mig”.

Pianist in film music composed by Magnus Jarlbo Magnus Jarlbo to the film “The Road to Utopia”.

Workshops in pianoplaying at Fridhems Folkhögskola.

Taking part as musician/walk-on in the Swedish TV series Systrar 1968.

Writing new material with Peter Smith (DK) in duo Leander & Smith, concerts and recordings of new album.

Arranging and recording music for a new album with Harald Leander.

2014:

Composing Penelope, a digital piece specially written for Kulturkvarteret in Kristianstad. Premiere and concert with the duo CaBoom! – A fireworks of keys with percussionist Bo Håkanson.

Duo concerts  in Cairo with Peter Tegnér (Cairo Jazzclub, El Sawy Culture Wheel, Sv Embassy)

Concerts with own her band  at Ystad Jazz Festival and on the Swedish west coast.

Concert with Ensemble Miró at the vernissage of sketches by J. Miró in Hässleholms Kulturhus.

Accompanist at Skånes Dansteater and Complete Vocal Institute in Copenhagen.

1 year continouos course at the Complete Vocal Institute in Copenhagen.

 

2013:

Composing music to school project “Flygande toner och tankar”  Musik i Syd.

Concerts with her own band  at “Jazz under stjärnorna” in Brantevik, Palladium in Malmö and “Jazz i stadens rum” in Halmstad, solo concerts in Gothenburg and Malmö, guest at Goodnight Sun in Malmö.

Pianist and singer in different constellations with among others Felicia Konrad, Peter Tegnér, Annika Jessen and Harald Leander.

1 year course at the Complete Vocal Institute in Copenhagen.

 

2012:

Release 5th solo album “Melting into happiness”  on her own lable Timbre Tone Music.

Concerts and tours in Sweden with her band Colours in Motion.

Pianist in theatre play “Betty Lemon” with actress/singer Carina Söderman at Skillinge Teater.

2011:

Composing and recording her 5^th album, concerts with her band.

Concert at Copenhagen Jazzhouse with saxophonist Mette Ott “among friends”.

Composing and arranging music for Felicia Konrad’s album “Cosmic Wash Over”, released in Sept-11.

Playing French music in the show Tête à tête with Harald Leander.

Accompanist at Skånes Dansteater Malmö.

 

2010:

Release of her fourth solo album “Under my heart” on dB-Productions/Naxos.

Scholarship from SKAP (Swedish Composers of Popular Music)

Nominated to the Golden record in the magazine OJ (Orkesterjournalen)

Concerts with the French/Swedish duo Prunes, singer songwriter Hanna Åberg, saxophonist Mette Ott, guitarist Peter Tegnér, solo concerts.

Collaboration with the magician Malin Nilsson.

Pianist in Påsksoarén Skillinge Teater.

Recordings of her coming album in Gula Studion, technician and co-producer David Carlsson.

 

2008:

Concerts with Prunes in France and Sweden, Visfestivalen in Västervik.

Live-concert and reportage in the French national radio. (France Culture).

Pianist in the cabaret ”Snart halvtid” with Michael Segerström and Katarina Zell,

Påsksoarén at Skillinge Teater.

 

2007:

Release of the third album with Prunes, ”Grande Rue”, with their own material.

Concerts in Sweden, Denmark and France.

Concerts with among others Gunhild Carling, Malin Nilsson and Mette Ott.

 

 

2000-2006:

Composing music to Orderi, a radio-play for children produced by UR (script & dir. Jenny Bergman co-author/director of the films “Plötsligt (igen) i Vinslöv”.

Singing with the electronica-duo YMC on their album ”Essentials”.

Soundtrack to presentation films about the West Harbour-project Bo 01 in Malmö (produced by Anders Granquist/Good World).

Releasing two albums with Prunes, concerts in Sweden, Denmark and France.

Concerts with Mette Ott in Sweden and Denmark, concerts in Poland and Sweden with the quartet Ensemble Miró releasing their first album.

Pianist in the cabaret FAST at Skillinge Teater with the actors Eva Rexed and Harald Leander.

Pianist in the soundtrack of the films ”Om Sara” (regi Othman Karim),

1990’s:

Arranging, playing and conducting in the musical ”sluka mig” at Helsingborgs Stadsteater.

Concerts and records with her own band, participation in different recordings. Performing with her band in Sweden and abroad on stages like Skeppsholmsfestivalen, Pori Jazz, Hangö and Helsinki (Finland), tours in Germany and Italy.

Pianist in shows with members from Varieté Vauduvill.

Studies at Malmö Music Academy.

Pianist in the cabaret ”Kaos i korsetten” with Anette Norberg & Kattis Ohlsson.

 

1980’s:

Second half living in Italy and Greece, touring with different groups based on jazz and improvised music. Performing at clubs and theatres and stages like Umbria Jazz Festival and Patras Jazz Festival. Member in the group Italian Vocal Ensemble with the jazzsinger Roberta Gambarini.

Accompanist and teacher at the School of Theatre in Milan.

Member of Mario Salazar Band, TV-film, concerts in Sweden and Holland.

Studies at Skurup folk-highschool.

Pianist and accompanist at the Theatre Academy and Studioteatern in Malmö.
